+I'm the guy who apparently only posts on Thursdays+

"I never could get the hang of Thursdays." Actually, I am a Thursday fan. I like Thursdays. By Thursday, I'm feeling pretty confident that Saturday is going to get here. Monday, Tuesday, it still seems rather unclear whether we'll be gettig another weekend. Maybe last weekend really was the last weekend. By Thursday, I can relax a little. "Oh, ok, so after Friday, I don't have to do stuff that I don't want to do." Of course, it's always a surprise and a disappointment when I reach Sunday evening and realize that my weekend somehow slipped away from me. Oh well. Sigh.

Some very random thoughts:

+(Geek alert!) I watched about half of the episodes of the TV series "Firefly" on Netflix DVD last week and I was struck by how absolutely great the show was and how utterly my fault it is that the show was cancelled after 14 episodes. I mean, the show was created by Joss Whedon, who is a supergenius. I was an original fan of both "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel", and I'm enough of a Whedon nerd to know that he also wrote the screenplay for "Toy Story". So, "Firefly" was a Joss Whedon show, plus it took place on spaceships and had pretty girls on it. So, I'm just not sure why I never watched it when it was on the TV. Actually, I think I know part of the reason: Fox kept moving the damn show around, so that if I'd had a notion to watch it, I wouldn't have been able to find it anyway. Of course, if I'd been motivated, I wouldn't have let schedule changes affect my viewing habits. I just plain didn't give the show a chance. My loss, because it's probably the second best sci-fi/space opera program ever to have aired on television. The best sci-fi/space opera ever to have aired on television? "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century".

Yeah, right.

Anyway, a major motion picture is coming out next month entitles "Serenity", which is basically "Firefly" except with better special effects. We saw the trailer last weekend. The movie looks very promising. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

+Some foods and drinks I have not consumed since coming to Greenville:

A pimento cheeseburger from Tanner's Big Orange.
Pizza from Frodo's.
Mexican food from Fonda Rosalinda's.
George Dickel whisky.
Any Chinese food.
Any Thai food (except for leftovers).
Any real kuntry kookin (Waffle House does NOT count).
Hot dog-a-plenty from the Beacon in Sparkleburg.
A ripe peach.
Boiled peanuts.

So, there's plenty more to eat.
