Favorite song this week...
Casino Queen by Wilco. Probably because I'm listening to it right this minute (thanks, Chauntelle). I've also been listening to a lot of Neko Case, and, for some reason, the Shins (they just don't get old).
Lots of stuff going on right now, quite a bit of it rather, um, crapalicious:
+Chauntelle has The Gestational Diabetes, of course. She's worried and I'm worried and we're just trying to deal with it.
+Our house in Finger, the one we haven't yet been able to sell, just recently had a tree fall on its roof. A tree. The tree is no longer on the roof, but the roof still has holes in it, so now we have an unsold house with tree-holes in the roof.
+Work is, of course, stupid. Hooray, I'm finally a site manager...well, INTERIM site manager...at Faurecia, a site that is actively trying to get rid of IDG. Beacuse they hate us. A lot. So, it's hard to get excited. It's like getting promoted to captain...of the Titanic...right about the time she started to pitch vertical and all the extras started sliding down the deck and the CGI steerage passengers started bouncing off posts and such. What I'm trying to say, if I can drag the metaphor out a bit longer, is that Leo's not yet frozen and sliding down to the depths, and Kate's not yet blowing her whistle, but we're getting pretty close.
And yes, I realize that I've written more about my job than about my wife's health. But that's only because I (stupidly) think I have some control over my work, whereas I know that I can't make Chauntelle not have The Diabetes. I can only do whatever I have to do to help her deal with it. Maybe I worry so much about work because it distracts me from the things that really scare me.
But Chauntelle will get a handle on her blood sugar irregularities. And we'll get the house patched up and sold. And I will get to leave Faurecia very soon, and maybe my efforts there will be recognized.
And it's nearly Friday, and no one will bother me with work stuff this Saturday, because (1) the plant is closed, (2) I kinda fired that person who kept calling, and (3) my family will be in town, so I won't be answering the phone anyway.
