Happy 2-0-6

2006. Holy crap.

Where the hell did the year go?

Actually, it's funny. The year started off slowly. We knew we wanted to move to Greenville, but we weren't sure how to make it happen. We decided that our first step was to spiff up the old homestead, so we directed out attention toward painting walls, replacing ceiling fixtures, revovating bathrooms, and tiling floors. At the same time, we began looking for jobs in the Greenville area. Not much activity on the job front until mid-spring, when I heard from IDG. After they interviewed me, and interviewed me again, and made me wait in agony for days and weeks, they hired me, and then the year turned into a very colorful blur. After June 20, I mostly remember highway signs and rest stops and Ale-8-One. But the improtant thing was that we were able to move to Greenville, even if one of us wasn't actually able to spend much time in Greenville.

Then, things got really wild. On Oct 22 (Patrickmas), Chauntelle confirmed what she had been suspecting for weeks, and I found out that I would no longer be the only baby in our household (just the biggest one). And then my brain flew out of my skull for a while, because the idea that I could be a father is still crazy insane to me.

Actually, it's funny: Chauntelle asked me today (okay, according to the clock, yesterday) if I could believe that this time next year we'd have a 6 month old. And I explained that I still don't believe that she married me, or agreed to marry me, or, even, to go out with me in the first place. It's a whole series of events so fantastic and wondrous that my mind can not grasp the reality that any of them actually occurred.

So, I guess, I should expect to continue to have my tiny brain exploded in 2006.

I can't wait.

That's right, friends & family--we killed a bottle of Martinelli's Sparkling Cider on New Year's Eve. Woo hoo!

And I'm right with Patrick on the whole tiny brain explosion--I can't pretend to know how our lives will change, and how fantastic it's going to be.

Bring it on, 2-0-6.

I'm so glad you were able to find some yummy sparkling cider. Who says you can't bring in New Years right even with a bun in the oven?

We also found some yummy sparkling grape....cider. Not sure what they call non-fermented grape juice. It's sparkly, so it's not Kool-Aid. Anyway, it was also sorta pink, which isn't very macho, but Patrick & I took it to the park & killed it anyway.

We. Are. Wild.
